Collection: Casa Setaro

Casa Setaro is located in the heart of the historic Vesuvius winemaking region. Since 1995, it has been part of a protected nature reserve. Massimo Setaro, with the help of his wife Arriana, produces exquisite wines here. No chemical pesticides or herbicides are used in their production.

Under difficult, warm conditions, man and nature collaborate to obtain the finest grapes from the pitch-black and rock-hard soil. These are all so-called Franc de Pieds: original rootstocks. Phylloxera cannot survive in porous volcanic soils, so American rootstocks are not necessary here. The hard work of both farmer and plant is certainly reflected in the taste. These are very elegant wines with immense minerality.

Massimo makes wines from the Caprettone, Falanghina, Aglianico, and Piedirosso grape varieties. The latter grape is the basis of the Neapolitan pride 'Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio'. Since Greek times, the vineyards on these black volcanic soils have produced magnificent wines. However, for a long time, the enormous potential has not been fully utilized.

Massimo and Arriane Setaro strive with every possible effort to create magnificent wines from their native soil. According to wine journalists and Karakter Wijnimport, they have certainly succeeded.
