Domaine Barmès-Buecher, 2017

Four

Four

An expressive wine that embodies the unique terroir of the region. This is a Gewurztraminer blend from three Grand Cru vineyards and the Rosenberg vineyard. In 2017, there was too much crop loss, which is why Maxime chose to put all the Gewurztraminer together in one bottle. This makes it a unique vintage and a very special wine.

The wine has an inviting bouquet with aromas of ripe fruit, spices, and floral notes. On the palate, it offers an elegant balance between freshness and depth, with a subtle minerality characteristic of the domain's biodynamic vineyards.

Meer over Domaine Barmès-Buecher

The domain is located in the village of Wettolsheim, near Colmar in Alsace. The Barmès Family (mother Geneviève with son Maxime and daughter Sophie) makes their exceptionally characterful wines here, entirely biodynamically.

François and his wife Geneviève founded the company in 1985, constantly seeking the quality and originality of their terroirs. Unfortunately, François passed away in 2011 after a fatal accident. In the meantime, their extremely talented son Maxime is responsible for the production process.

In line with the biodynamic approach, they do not add any synthetic or chemical products, they use homemade compost from plant extracts, do not chaptalize (= adding sugar to the must), and do not add extra enzymes and yeasts. 100% pure nature!

This method of agriculture, the importance the family places on human values, (com-)passion, and precision all contribute to the success of these unique wines.
