Chénas Chassignol 2021
Chénas Chassignol 2021
A pure and refined Beaujolais cru that perfectly reflects the terroir of Chassignol. Located on steep granite slopes, this special vineyard produces wines with impressive finesse and depth.
In the glass, it displays a brilliant ruby red color. The nose is expressive and elegant, with aromas of ripe red berries, violets, and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, it is lively and refined, with a beautiful balance between freshness, soft tannins, and a refined spiciness. The long, clean finish emphasizes the precise and authentic character of this biodynamically produced wine.

At just 22, Paul Thillardon made some fundamental life choices. First, he would become a winemaker. Second, he would make his wines in the most natural way possible.
This means choosing small scale, hard work, natural pesticides in the vineyard, carbonic maceration in the tank, and virtually no added sulfites. Pure nature, in other words.
From 2007, Paul began sweating and plowing with horses in his first vineyards. With help and inspiration from Jean Louis Dutraive, he sought expansion in the still affordable Chenas appellation. Good organically cultivated vineyards with vines averaging 40 years old were acquired.
The results soon followed. Beautiful wines full of fruit and round calcaire notes. Small Burgundies with intensely full fruit.
Together with his sister Aude and companion Charles, more new vineyards followed. These are all vinified separately, giving all the wines their own unique character, from the light-footed Vibrations to the meaty Chassignol vineyard. Exceptional wines that can easily compete in style and quality with the sulfur-free gang.
