Weingut Paul Schumacher, 2022
Frühburgunder 2022
Frühburgunder 2022
Cheerful wine from Frühburgunder, a special type of early-ripening Pinot Noir (on average 2 weeks earlier ripe than Spätburgunder). Packed with playful small red fruit and loads of juice. Fresh, lean, and refined. This delightful wine prefers to be lightly chilled before consumption.

The valley of the Ahr river is the northernmost place in Europe where world-class red wine can be produced. In this narrow valley, the warmth lingers beautifully, and the steep vineyards collect a lot of sun. Everything here revolves around one grape: the noble Spätburgunder (=Pinot Noir).
Wandering through the beautiful Ahr valley, the Marienthaler Trotzenberg looms into view, with the small winery of the Schumacher family at its foot. After years of experience as an oenologist, Paul Schumacher started making his own wines in 2007. He still provides those oenological services to almost all producers in the Ahr valley, but also beyond (as far as Limburg).
With approximately 5 hectares of vineyards, Schumacher is one of the smaller wineries in the Ahr. Qualitatively, however, he is among the top, not least because of the excellent locations of his vineyards (including parcels on the Walporzheimer Krützenberg and the Marienthaler Trotzenberg) with soils of slate and 'grauwacke' (sandstone), rich in iron and minerals.
