This renowned Distilleria was founded in 1885 and is credited with, among other things, the first grappa made from a single grape variety in Italy (Grappa di Barolo from Nebbiolo). In 1922, the company was acquired by Dr. Mario Montanaro, who, together with his son Giuseppe, perfected the art of distilling and aging.
Montanaro is located in Gallo d'Alba, the heart of Barolo, and as expected, the grape pomace supplied here is very fresh and of the highest quality. They produce excellent grappas, and their vermouth is among the best in the world.
