Weingut Eva Fricke, 2024

Lorch Riesling 2024

Lorch Riesling 2024

'Ortswein' (which would be called a village wine in Burgundy, for example) from Lorch in the far west of the Rheingau, bordering Mittelrhein. Delightfully crisp and mineral-driven Riesling, full of citrus and a hint of mint. Energetic wine from a rocky and unruly sub-region.

Meer over Weingut Eva Fricke

Although Eva originally comes from Bremen and has no family background in wine, she has successfully established herself in the traditional Rheingau wine region. Her passion for wine led her to South Africa, Bordeaux, and Schloss Johannisberg in the Rheingau, after which she was admitted to the prestigious Geisenheim Wine University. She then gained experience at renowned wineries such as Castello di Verduno (Barolo), Dominio Pingus (Ribera del Duero), and Leitz (Rheingau). With this extensive knowledge and experience, she founded her own winery in the Rheingau in 2006.

Her winery now covers 10 hectares, and she has been working entirely organically since 2016. Everything is done by hand in the cellar, resulting in wines of exceptional precision and character. Every detail receives full attention.

The fact that Eva, as an outsider, managed to establish herself in the ultra-conservative wine world of the Rheingau is already remarkable. But the fact that she grew to become one of the absolute top winemakers in the region within ten years – recognized by Jancis Robinson, The Wine Advocate, and Feinschmecker, among others – is a world-class achievement.
