Magnum Rancia Chianti Reserva 2019
Magnum Rancia Chianti Reserva 2019
Rancia is the name of the old vineyard and the Benedictine monastery in the village of Berardenga. Old vines and low yields ensure an explosion of flavors. The Rancia is opulent, full of red and black fruit, herbs, and flowers. Good acidity is balanced by ripe, integrated tannins. The wine matures for 18 to 20 months in barrique.

Fèlsina's main production is located on the southern edge of the Chianti Classico area, in Castelnuovo Berardenga, where a number of typical Sangiovese-based wines are produced. From the Chianti Classico and Riserva, to the Tre Bicchieri-awarded Rancia and Fontalloro. A second part of their viticulture is located slightly further south, still within the Chianti zone, near Sinalunga in Castello di Farnetella, where a Chianti is also produced.
In addition to Sangiovese-based wines, this winery also produces several excellent wines from non-local grape varieties, including IGT Maestro Raro and I Sistri. It is a winery that pays a great deal of attention to modern techniques, but without losing sight of tradition.
Grandson Giovanni Poggiali confirms the family's conviction that the social aspect makes up a very large part of terroir. He can say this because he has been involved in the process of planting and replanting the vineyards for 25 years. The choice to vinify pure Sangiovese is not only geological in nature, but very much based on tradition.
