Tenuta Iuzzolini, 2017
Passito Bristace 2017
Passito Bristace 2017
Passito refers to the process of (partially) drying grapes with a high sugar content and a lot of concentrate. In this case, late harvest Greco Bianco grapes are dried and then aged for 12 months in French barriques. This results in an elegantly sweet wine with delicious freshness and elements of honey, citrus, nuts, and a wonderfully light, lingering finish.

Tenuta Iuzzolini is the estate of the now very elderly Fortunato Iuzzolini. In the 1970s, he left impoverished Calabria to work in Mercedes factories in Stuttgart. In his spare time, he began importing and distributing dried pasta like Barilla's, and managed to build up a small fortune.
His homeland kept calling, and once he had saved enough, he returned to buy old vineyards in his hometown of Cirò Marina.
His sons and daughters have now joined the company, and in 2005, a beautiful new winery was put into operation. Iuzzolini's wines have been in our assortment for many years, and they continue to show their depth and refinement.
