It has been a long time since Sancerre was primarily known as a red wine and was a favourite in Parisian bistros. Fortunately, Simon keeps this tradition alive, making a vibrant Pinot Noir full of red fruit, such as cherries and berries. We also taste floral notes (elderflower) and a hint of garden soil. A juicy drink, with a fresh finish and considerable length. A small part of the wine (30%) has been aged in wood, the rest in stainless steel.

Chotard manages his small 9 hectares from Reigny near Crézancy and Sancerre. 80% is Sauvignon, 20% Pinot Noir. Vines up to 60 years old. Almost organic cultivation (organic fertilization, no insecticides).

Respect for the clay/limestone terroir is essential; the white Sancerre ages for 8 months "sur ses lies" annually, consistently producing a wine with great substance. The red wines are delicate and supple; Pinot Noir of the fine and fruity kind.
