Delfi Selection 2019
Delfi Selection 2019
The vineyard belonged to Delfi, not the oracle, but the man. His family has been cultivating grapes on that plot of land since time immemorial. First, they sold the grapes to the cooperative, then to a winery, until Delfi sold the vineyard to Bell Cros. Now, they make the Seleccion Delfi from these special grapes. A dark, intense color. Layered aromas of ripe red fruit accented with hints of licorice, citrus, and violets. The mouth-filling flavors of this wine resonate endlessly. A wine that can also age well for many years in the cellar, only gaining in elegance.

Bell Cros is located high in Montsant, bordering Priorat. A relatively young winery, but with old vines! The quality of the vineyards is immense. Previously, it was a bit too high and cold here. Moreover, the vineyards were not protected by surrounding mountain ridges as in Priorat. But the changing climate has had its advantages here.
The first person to recognize this was winemaker Joan Asens. A man nicknamed "crac" - roughly translatable as genius - is, of course, a great asset. Born and raised next to the current estate, he knew the potential of these vineyards. For example, he was a consulting winemaker for Alvaro Palacios but did not have to think long about becoming the winemaker for Bell Cros.
2019 was his first year at Bell Cros, and in that same year, he was named winemaker of the year in Catalonia.
The white wines are made from Garnacha Blanca, and the red wines from Carinena and Garnacha.
